I am apparently one of the rare people that doesn't think Joel McHale is funny. He's one of a legion of comics who, if they can't be nasty, they can't amuse. I found him particularly annoying at the White House Correspondents' Dinner since he seemed uncomfortable and had the annoying habit of fake-apologizing for many of his weaker jokes. While the dinner has, without question, all the earmarks of a roast, Joel approached it with too much sadistic delight in his choice of weapons. His worst, of many really unfunny moments, was when he said to Obama , regarding his appreciation for the president's jokes, "My favorite was when you said you'd close the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay." The line had no humor or wit. It was just a pissy attack. His insults to Christie were equally vindictive, the barbs of a mean little man. So while most of the critics, who are probably as young and unsophisticated as McHale, are praising his humor, I think McHale is pretty much where he belongs in The Soup.
