Life in prison is so amusing.

I love true crime TV. But I guess a lot of other people do, too. Because it seems to be gaining in popularity and more and more shows are popping up. Some of them incredibly tasteless. But the most disturbing trend on the Discovery ID network is the attitude that men killing women is heinous, but women killing men is rather humorous.  Several commercials for crime programming show female killers in a comical, tongue-in-cheek light. Promotions for The Secret Lives of Stepford Wives, for instance, are unabashedly colorful, sexy, glamorous and cheerful, though the actual criminals rarely are. They even feature contests. Another new show is titled How Not to Murder Your Husband, giving one the impression that there is a recommended way. True crime shows fascinate me because they show that truth is stranger than fiction, and reveal all the terrible irreversible mistakes people make in live that put them in prison, removed from everything they expected to gain by committing the crime. Thus Forensic Files and similar shows are worth watching. I hate to see greedy and tasteless producers suddenly flood the market with "murder is fun" programming.
