NOT FAR FROM THE TREE.

For a while there Trump supporters could get away with pretending that he was a champion of the underdog and government-oppressed. They could argue that all his verbal assaults were semi-serious comments that he didn't really mean. But those days are over. With his barely disguised invitation to 2nd Amendment people to assassinate Hillary Clinton, he went way beyond the pale. So now if you're one of the defenders of Trump, you have to accept that you're an anti-social loser who approves of criminal acts and is eager to see a unhinged maniac in the Oval Office. This isn't reality television anymore. You're not voting for a celebrity but a dangerous narcissist who could plunge this country into rougher seas than we have ever had to navigate. You could insist that his children praise him out of admiration and loyalty, when —more likely—it's out of intimidation and fear of being written out of his will. After all, you might protest, look at Ivanka who is elegant, intelligent, and successful. Or you could say what kind of man produces two sadistic sons like Eric and Donald Trump Junior who so gleefully kill and pose with a dead elephant, kudu, civet cat, and waterbuck and who pose proudly with a crocodile hanging from a noose off a tree. Rational people in the United States are very wary of Donald Trump, an amoral, egotistical, xenophobic, compulsive liar.  But we should be just as wary and suspicious of any person who supports Donald Trump.
