I don't know about your city, but Miami loves to put up warning signs it has no intention of enforcing. On the Miracle Mile, for instance, (a shopping street in Coral Gables) there are several signs that say NO BICYCLING OR SKATEBOARDING. I'm sure all those bicyclers and skateboarders whizzing along on the sidewalk have noticed these signs.  I've yet to see cops stop anyone. On Miami transit there are many signs that say NO SMOKING, EATING, OR DRINKING. Again the passengers ignore these warnings as they drink their coffee, soda or water and chow down on sandwiches or cookies. The drivers, of course, never say anything. These are the kinds of things I think about in the morning on the outside patio of Starbucks where customers are smoking undisturbed despite the NO SMOKING signs.
