Not a 10.

In a recent interview with HuffPost Live, Academy Award-winner Marion Cotillard revealed that she felt sad about the negative response to Nine, director Rob Marshall's 2009 adaptation of the Broadway production. Both she and the interviewer acted as if there were some kind of mystery as to why audiences didn't connect to the film. The answer is so simple. While it was well-directed, beautifully shot, gorgeously costumed and well sung, the source material was a bore. Based on Fellini's autobiographical film 8-1/2 which, despite critical acclaim, is also a bore Nine wasn't worth filming. It never had name recognition or the popular appeal of other bores like Camelot.  If Americans didn't flock to art theaters to see 8-1/2, why would they rush to Nine? They wouldn't. They didn't. I am sure there are those who love this film. I personally can't respond to a musical with such dippy song titles as, "My Husband Makes Movies."
