Did you ever see a cornered rat? I mean a pathetic creature who is aware it's been trapped and has no escape. Realizing there is no out, it tries to frighten its captor. It snarls, it hisses, it bares its teeth and tries to look menacing. I wish I could find a picture that would give you some idea of what I mean.
