I don't know why there is so much discussion about Donald Trump's pants. The answer to why they looked so odd is simple. Donald, like many men his age. has prostate issues. This means frequent urination and sometimes an accident. I am assuming that Donald had such an accident before facing his delusional fans. Being embarrassed and not having a change of clothing, he cleverly (a rarity for him) decided to put his pants on backwards so that the large wet spot would be behind him out of sight. The ruse worked well enough in that nobody spotted the wet stain, but it was obvious to many viewers that the pants were on backwards. And if the pants seemed to have excess material that was probably caused by the heaviness of the urine tugging at the fabric. I am sure in the future Donald will not fail to wear his Depends.
