I read that the name Karen is plummeting in popularity in the United States. I'm not surprised since some brain-damaged smartass started using that traditional name as a substitute for a bigot and shrew, mostly white and privileged. And naturally the ovine media fell right in line, using that name in a derogatory way without ever considering that thousands of very nice women are named Karen. Even today I doubt that those who use Karen in a negative way ever considered how unkind a choice that is. All these smug sanctimonious, better-than-thou hypocrites could just as easily used another word, a defining word like crone, applicable noun like harpie, or a completely made-up word like priggot. But no, they took a perfectly respectable name like Karen and made it unusable.
