Are today's casting directors 12 years old? There seem to be no thought that goes into choosing spokesmen (yes, men) for leading advertisers. While the Trevago guy is acceptable, the T.D, financial adviser is too "man off the street" ordinary, giving him a recent James Bond spot was absurd. Also absurdly cast is Doug and the Emu, especially with his adoring wife and glamorized Mrs. Emu. Who came up with that? and keeps it going. Lots of pharmaceuticals seem to have chubby-hubby types doing some kind of dippy dance step. As far as I'm concerned there is only one spokesmen on TV who is attractive, funny, and fortunate enough to appear in well-written and clever commercials: Dennis Quaid. All the others go directly to mute or a short visit to TMC.
