THE LAST MAN STANDING.

Sadly, I think that Kirk Douglas was the last male holdout from Movie's Golden Age. I can't think of another major movie hero of that period who is still alive. Though Kirk was never one of my favorites, many of his movies were: Spartacus, Seven Days in May, Detective Story, Paths of Glory, Out of the Past, The Strange Love of Martha Ivers, A Letter to Three Wives, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, yes, even Strangers When We Meet. There were many more of course. He also wrote several books; served in the Navy; had four sons, notably actor Michael Douglas; and was only married twice, most recently to Anne Douglas (nee Buydens) for 66 years. Who could imagine when Issur Danielovitch was born on December 9, 1916 that he would leave this world with so much to remember him by?
