FELONS ARE NOT FUN.

• Having been an advertising copywriter for more than forty years, and having written thousands of ads and commercials, I have never sunk so low as to make criminals cute. Which is why I find the SimpliSafe commercials so offensive. There is nothing charming,winsome, adorable or appealing about a thief, especially one in a ski mask. Criminals are useless, lazy, heartless people who don't care who they hurt or deprive of what they have earned. All too often they are also violent and leave the scenes of their crimes having murdered or maimed some innocent person. The SimpliSafe commercials with their ski-masked, mustachioed criminal are disgusting not amusing, not clever.
