TOO MANY THANK YOUS.

What's with this new trend where almost every guest on news programs starts out with, "Thanks for having me." I'm finding it a little too humble and grateful, and really annoying if the programmer insists on this obsequious intro. Why should they be thanking the host for having them on the show?They are there for a purpose. Maybe the host should be thanking them for being willing to appear.
Or maybe everyone should abandon this unnecessary nicety.
