"The reason why" is the most redundant expression in the English language. Why is never, never needed. The reason is the reason. It doesn't need a superfluous word to explain it or propel it along. And while we're at it, stop saying "If I would have known" which always sounds ignorant. The correct wording is "If I had known." and that goes for every sentence contrary to fact that includes"if" and "would". So I encourage you to stop saying,"'why" and start saying, "had" in the situations just mentioned,
